Physician and Professional Fitness-for-Duty Evaluations

Neuropsychological capacity evaluations for physicians and other safety-sensitive professionals with a potentially impairing condition.

Overview

Beyond FAA aeromedical certification, which is addressed on its own page, Dr. Considine evaluates physicians and other safety-sensitive professionals when a potentially impairing neurological or psychiatric condition raises a question of capacity to practice or to perform safety-critical duties. Evaluations provide an opinion on capacity along with recommendations for restorative treatment or appropriate adjustments to scope of duties.

Confidentiality and payment

Outside physicians are seen on an out-of-pocket basis, which grants the evaluated professional sole authority over the results. Vanderbilt physicians may coordinate payment through their department or the employee assistance program.

Fees

Fees are structured similarly to aeromedical evaluations and depend on the scope of the question and the testing required. A case-by-case estimate is provided on request.
